Hello! I’m Jacqui. I’ve been teaching for about 5 years now. 4 of those years were in Japan. I taught at Coco Juku in Kawasaki for about 3 years and at Daito Gakuen in Chitose Funabashi for about 1 year. I loved working in Japan. It was a great experience.
I also taught children at their home for about 2 months in Madrid, Spain which was very rewarding.

Start writing a daily diary which expresses your personal opinions on things as well as talking about your daily life. The more you write, the more you’ll know what to talk about when having a conversation with others.
Start to watch comedy shows such as Friends. Watch a 30 minute episode 3 times. First with English subtitles next with Japanese subtitles and lastly back to English subtitles. Also by watching comedy shows, it introduces our types of humour which can be difficult for some Japanese people at first.
It’s important for you to understand that it’s totally fine to make mistakes, especially when we have conversations.
I feel this is why many Japanese have issues with speaking as they are afraid to make mistakes and also they aren’t used to expressing very honest, personal opinions so often.
